Corona Grande: Piatnik

Wien 1 - called "Corona Grande" - 32  cards.

The figures are double-headed, featuring characters very wide at the base, which slightly exceeds the frame. The  Knave of Hearts is holding a flag bearing the name WIEN, and the Knave of Spades has a n=banner with a reference to the manufacturer, Ferdinand Pitanik. Piatnik is a world famous brand of playing cards which was established in Vienna, Austria back in 1824.

The tax stamp (steuerstempel) on the Ace of hearts was used between  1926-1934.

These cards are very large and sturdy, with no indices or numbers. 32 cards with French suits were used mainly in the Eastern part of Austria for playing Preference, which is popular in various forms throughout Eastern Europe and in Russia.
